Fuel cells are expected to become a key technology of future decentralised energy supply. The EBZ Demonstration Units provide a flexible platform for a large variety of research and application targets. Due to our consistent modular design and the in-house developed system components, numerous parameters can be adapted to customers specification.

EBZ’s SOFC Demonstration Units are applied to residential µCHP, large-scale CHP for industry or stand-alone power generators for stationary and mobile applications. The units can be operated with different fuels and fuel processing technologies. EBZ offers the possibility to integrate the customers stack into the system or to use the Integrated Demonstration Module IDM with staxera stacks.

The 3 kWel Research & Demonstration Unit, a steam reforming unit with two parallel Integrated Stack Modules of staxera, can be used to show SOFC technology to customers that are willing to perform research in system operation and integration. It is a fully functional SOFC demonstration system based on natural gas. The unit has reached currently 3,000 operation hours at electrical efficiencies of up to 40 %.

SOFC demonstration systems, based on different stack technologies, are supplied by EBZ for either proofing the SOFC stack long-term stability in a system similar environment or to investigate the stack and system performance with different fuel or operation characteristics.
